Self sufficiency

One of the essential qualities of any person is to be in a position where he/she can handle things by themselves without depending on others. Given the self-centric and selfish society that we live in, So, it requires us to strive for being independent on various aspects of life. Having said that, I have no intention of generalising by saying that the entire society is outright selfish.  Life is unpredictable, and there’s always a hint of precariousness attached to it. Henceforth, it’s imperative to inculcate productive habits through which one can develop the personality holistically. When I say productive habits, it could be anything from reading a good book to focusing on various intellectual areas which needs to be addressed in order to have a broader perspective on any given subject. The idea is to evolve constantly, not the other way around. And evolution can only happen when we devout most of our time doing something productive as opposed to engaging in frivolous ...

Procrastination jinx

In a capitalist society, you are likely to be judged by your contributions and the efforts that you put in to break the bread or let’s say, to get the wheel moving to making a living. Either way, you ought to get physically involved in order to accomplish a certain task. But the real question that we should be asking ourselves is whether we really get engrossed with passion in whatever we choose to do? We often cite lame reasons to actually delay or procrastinate on our day-to-day tasks, which in turn leads to disorganisation and we end up being inconsistent most of time. Not to mention, today’s generation has resorted to leaving things to the last minute, whether it be, preparing for exams, doing projects, meeting the office deadline, whatever it is, we leave it to the last minute. However, that doesn’t always do justice to our achievements per se. Of course, nobody can be held accountable expect for "us", as far as procrastination is concerned. I’m certain that t...

Taming the mighty mind

The word mind in a general sense holds an awful lot of importance considering it's imaginative ability and the limit being the sky. After all, Einstein himself said, “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.” However, sometimes we let it dominate our own lives like it has a say, just for being a vital organ. To be more specific, our mind can  prove to be essential only when we have total control over it but not the other way around. Since, it has the tendency to distract you in the blink of an eye, and put you in a state of thinking that you’d never wish to be, and worst of all is, its ability to assume half of the things from an irrational perspective which contributes to mental unrest. Just as a horse trainer rigorously develops control over a horse by means of his taming skills. Similarly we have to acquire tools like meditation or any mental or physical exercise which helps you attain focus, or even maintaining a journal in order to k...

Tales of nature

In today’s day and age, we are mostly occupied with things that has no significance in spiritual development, such as meeting the office deadlines, whether it be children heading to schools, or people doing jobs that they hate just to make a living, I categorise all these under a modern day rat-race that we all have got accustomed to . We have been led in believing that money holds an awful lot of importance in order to live a healthy lifestyle. We’re just concerned about the external growth but not internal. We barely even have time to invest for our own benefit, whether it be physical or mental. When was the last time have you been to a park amidst nature to take a walk, when was the last time did you watch a beautiful sunrise or sunset, painting the sky in different hues, or when was the last time you looked in the sky in the night to observe the shimmering constellations? We got habituated to live in a concrete jungle as we totally disconnected ourselves from nature. ...
